Yeah just run down the wing so fast no bugger can keep up.
Cross the ball to no-one... Blah Blah Blah.
Okay he might be good, but chances are he ain't.
Usain Bolt wants Sir Alex to jump for his amazin' opportunity before he bolts elsewhere.

Any other older V's here remember "Ordinary Superstar'' Johnny Rodgers and the Alouettes back in the 70's?

At least Rodgers was a successful football player in college with the Cornhuskers, and proved he had the stuff, some of the stuff. What did Bolt's pedigree in footie besides keepy-up?
Those that forget history are doomed to repeat it (prime example: CMNT)

High end athletes tend to be natural athletes; they can play any sport and are capable.However, they might have all the god given natural abilities to be successful but lack the knowledge, experience and high level sport IQ to take the new sport to the highest level. I don’t doubt Bolt could be a footballer in some professional sense, but Premier league? Forget it.

I agree. It was common in the Interwar and the early Post war years in England to see Cricketers playing Pro Football in the winter , Denis Compton of Middlesex and Arsenal was a prime example (was also a unoffical England pler during WW2), as was was Ian 'Beefy' Botham, who turned out for Worcestershire, Somerset and S****horpe United!
Also Many an Actor can Kick a ball, Including the Current incumbent of the TARDIS!
Dont you just love how S****horpe united gets ****!
I just think that pace or speed is an overrated attribute of the game. However, i do believe that lack of pace is hinderance.
Bolt would be more valuable to a CFL or NFL team. Especially the CFL with it wider field and no yeard rules, he would be deveasting on punt and kick off returns. And even as a wide receiver, perhaps even in the NFL, where we have seen world class sprinters have some success. Who was that guy with the Raiders from the eighies or nineties.
I think if Bolt was a defender, he'd be signed for sure given that Carrick and Valencia played at the back vs. Everton on Monday.
Rocket Ismail? who started playing for the Argos when Bruce McNall, John Candy and Wayne Gretzky owned the team. Or are you thinking Bo Jackson who also played MLB with KC?
First thing i thought when i heard Bolt was asking to trial with ManU was no way is he going to have the technique and vision to play in midfield or the first touch and finishing skills to play forward (seriously, thumping it for Bolt to run onto will end up going to the opponent 90% of the time). The only way he sticks is if he can play CB and has the tenacity and strength to match his speed so that he can hound the crap out of any small, fast forward.
"We are back bitches" - Adolf Hitler.
During the 80s & 90s the Raiders actually had 3 world class sprinters who returned kicks and played a bit of wide reciever for them. Ron Brown, James Jett and Willie Gault. Jett was the only one who was primarily a Raider during his career. You may also be thinking of Tim Brown, who was an all pro Wide Reciever, Kick Returner who played for 16 years. He had sprinter's speed, but was not, as far as I can recall, actually ever a high profile track athlete.
I do recall Johny R Superstar beachesl. That was from a time when the CFL could actually compete salarywise with the NFL. Before the days of the huge television contracts and when black quarterbacks were non-existant in the NFL meaning there was a lot of very talented NFL Caliber quarterbacks populating the league.
Thanks for putting us in our place, Captain Canada!
Well... if he is good enough to walk onto ManU... I guess Jamaica is too good for him?
Speed is great.
If.
You know where to go.
When to go there.
What to do when you get there
The ability to do what you need to do when you get there, at speed.
In that order.
In other words....
Awareness ->
Positioning ->
Timing ->
Execution ->
Big Paycheck
Speed is utterly useless if anything in that tree is missing, but when all things are equal speed wins.

Forget about those guys from the 80s and 90s. This guy was the gold standard:
