Default Toronto FC interested in Dario Cvitanich

Nice and Osasuna are also interested in his services. Nice have already spoken to the management team of Cvitanich (28 years old).

Seems to score at every club he plays at, he would be a good pick up for TFC. I wonder if they would offer him a DP?

With Frings, Kouvermans and (now) Hasli, all the DP spots on the roster are accounted for.

I could be wrong, but I believe TFC still have an extra DP spot because Kovermans is on the long term injury list which frees up his slot until he returns from injury

From what i hear, you get no cap relief in the event of injuries. So it figures that the same applies to the number of DP's that you are allowed. Also, i have seen nothing in the rules that i have come accross that suggests that you do.

    Duane Rollins says you do:

"With Paul Mariner having confirmed that TFC has the ability to add a DP to replace Danny Koevermans (and will even get some cap relief – likely half a season) we can turn our attention to the more important question.

    Should they?"

Unrelated but the last line in that write up would appear to contain a typo. It states:

"The window closes in 13 days."

But the league rules state that the secondary transfer window closes on July 27 (i.e.: 3 days):

    "(B) TRANSFERS AND LOANS
An MLS player may be transferred or loaned at any time to a team outside the League (subject to that team’s Federation’s transfer window), subject to the consent of the player.

The registration windows – the dates between which MLS may request the transfer certificate of a player under contract in another country – are as follows:

    January 21 – April 15 (Primary Window)
    June 27 – July 27 (Secondary Window) "

    ------------------

He couldn't have meant the the roster freeze deadline because that is in September.

Seems like he's moving to Nice. He just needs to complete his medical and then it's a done deal.

Not too surprising, I would have been shocked if a player of that pedigree and age decided to sign with TFC.
