    Default Squad for August friendly

What will the squad look like for this match that will apparently be played in the Western Hemisphere? It will depend on if he decides to call in players who are without a club. The following players in the pool are without a club: Attakora, JBB, Peters, Ledgerwood, and possibly Klukowski (since transfermarkt lists his club as "unknown"). Out of that list I think only Ledgerwood, Klukowski, and Attakora are likely to get called IMO. Anyways, I think he will go with quite a few European based players. We are not deep enough yet to call a full MLS squad.

    This is what I think:

    Lars Hirchfeld
    Milan Borjan

    Ante Jazic
    Ashtone Morgan
    Andre Hainault
    Dejan Jakovic
    Kevin McKenna
    David Edgar
    Nana Attakora or Doniel Henry

    Atiba Hutchinson
    Julian De Guzman
    Will Johnson
    Patrice Bernier
    Samuel Piette
    Terry Dunfield or Nick Ledgerwood

    Dwayne DeRosario
    Olivier Occean
    Simeon Jackson
    Tosaint Ricketts

Keeper: Lars over Bojan. I like Bojan more but Lars is still the number 1 and is currently playing since Norway play their club football in summer.

Defense: I think the starters will be Jazic-Mckenna-Hainualt-Edgar. Hart will want to go with the most likely starting 11 for the Panama match. I also think he will use this opportunity to get Jakovic into CB. I can't see Mckenna being subbed off unless he is lacking game fitness, so my guess it he replaces Edgar and Hainault slots into right back. I think Morgan will either see a few minutes at the end at LB or stay on the bench. I feel that he will bring Nana (despite his inability to find a club) like he did for the Armenia friendly. I would rather see Henry, when you combine the CCL and Voyageurs cup games he has played over 40 games as a professional (and he is only 19). He will eclipse Nana by next year and IMO is better on the ball.

Midfield: Patrice makes his return to the fold, but I do not think he will start. I think it will be De Guzman, Johnson, and Hutchinson. Like the defense, Hart will start his best available options. I think Bernier will come on at halftime for Atiba. He can bring offense and PSV will want to minimize the chance Hutch doesn't come back injured. If Ledgerwood is in the squad, I think he replaces DeGuzman. If Dunfield is in the squad, I think he will also replace De Guzman. I would rather see Dunfield only because he has been starting for TFC, but like any other Vee who's been paying attention, I wouldn't bet on Ledgerwood not being in the squad (club or no club). He can also play right back as well.

Strikers: Ricketts-Occean-DeRosario. I think Jackson comes in for Ricketts. I do not think we will see Hume because Hart will bring a small squad and sadly Hume will be the odd man out. Debated adding Issey but he is in the same boat.

Peters is still with Ipswich but has lost his number 2 jersey and may well be gone by the start of the season.

Klukowski definitely without a club now.

Can anyone confirm that Ledgerwood has left SVWW? He's still listed on their roster along with his profile on the club website.

I will say this, anyways...it was pretty well stated in these forums that if anyone couldn't make friendlies for any reason, like club reasons, that we should still have the friendlies anyways.

The irony being that there will still be those that get upset and have bad things to say WITH the august friendlies against those players, if they don't show up.

Remember when the roster gets announced...sometimes you can't have your cake and eat it too...

That said, if the roster IS a little thin, give Keven Aleman a surprise callup! I'm pretty high on the kids abilities.

A date, location and opponent announcement would be great about now...

i would also like to call up cavalinni. this guy should be capped. exciting to watch - always a threat and looks to be an impact for the future of cmnt. i think saiko should also get a look. if these are friendlies, why not get a look at a couple of guys that could make a difference in the very near future.

    ---------------------borjan-----------------------
    ---------mckenna-----------hainault------------
    edgar------------------------------------morgan
    ---------------------jakovic----------------------
    --------hutchinson--------deguzman------------
    ------------------de rosario----------------------
    ------------occean---------jackson--------------

and just for kicks i would like to see something like this although...
not sure it's so good as a tune up before a qualifier...

    ---------------------borjan-----------------------
    ---------mckenna-----------hainault------------
    edgar------------------------------------morgan
    ------------------hutchinson---------------------
    ---------piette------------------saiko------------
    johnson-----------------------------------ricketts

We don't know where, when, against who, or for that matter if there's going to be an August friendly yet (no matter what the CSA says; long experience means I take a position of "I believe it the instant I see it scheduled"). So speculation is grossly premature.

    But fun.

I don't mind Cavalinni either...he's like a bull in a china shop when on form. that said, remember that a cap in a friendly means he has to actually get in the match, which MAY not be feasible if Hart is looking to guys getting form before WCQ. When I said callup I meant to get more familiar with the Men's system and Hart, even without a cap.

Also, remember that a cap here wouldn't cap TIE the player.

This match isn't the time to by trying youth players. If the players do not have a realistic chance of playing in the September or October qualifiers, they should not be selected for an August friendly, unless they are needed to make up numbers. The important minutes should go to players that are already in the core of the team.
