All their teams though seem to be playing the right way, posession soccer and not overlooking the smaller good technically players.
Mexican soccer is kind of unique in that it has an element of latino flair but seems more hard-nosed and direct, in a positive way, than South American footy. Very strong domestic league and, yes, they are pumping a ton of resources into youth development. I was really impressed with their U23s in the game v Canada. I am super keen to see us play them in the hex and see how Hart would approach the matches, both home and away.

Yeah, it's very hard to base Canada's improvement on what they are doing vs Mexico. You could say we are losing bad to Mexico now, and we were losing bad to Mexico before, so therefore Canada soccer has not improved.

Not so. Mexico's soccer has improved a CRAP tonne over the last 20 years itself...Mexico, to me, is a footie world power at the moment, and moving forward will continue to do so. Their development rate is going to prove to be pretty staggering, I think, with the amount of talented kids they are bringing up.

I think Canada is improving too, but let's not use playing against Mexico as the gauge, let's use other teams we are playing against, in other countries who's player development has been more stagnant.

According to the CSA release, the Mexican team contains 13 93s and 9 94s. Of the 9 94s, 8 played on the U17 world champs including the Golden Ball winner (Gomez, who scored the second goal in the first game) and the captain of the winning squad.

Again, great competition for the boys. Still no word on why Camargo didn't go after Rongen said he was going. BTW, he scored 2 more goals yesterday for TFCA.

Here's a good article from Steve Sandor at the 11.ca which illustrates what we're up against from a resource perspective.

Ah yes. I was at that game. It, along with our performance against Argentina in that friendly in Toronto, seriously raised expectations for 2007.
