    Default Canadians abroad: June 29 - July 5, 2012

    Guidelines for this thread

    • In this thread post match updates on all Canadians abroad for June 29 - July 5, 2012.

    • If you find updates posted in some other thread or on the other Voyageurs forum then post them here as well, but be sure to credit the original poster.

    • If there is news that is particularly significant (eg. someone scores a big goal, someone gets injured, etc.) then feel free to begin a new thread on that topic in order to draw greater attention or start a discussion, but also post that news here.

    • Some comments on news posted in this thread are okay, but let's not let this thread go off into a long discussion. If the news already appears in another thread (as per the previous bullet) then post your comments in that other thread, otherwise if you want to say something significant or if it is likely to generate replies then begin a new thread.

Andrew Barsalona has left Eintracht, no word on where he's going. A shame he was injured for most of his time here.

Eintracht's first team has played two pre-season friendlies so far (15-0 vs. Vater Jahn Peine, 14-0 vs. Germania Wolfenbüttel), REB played in both, but hasn't scored so far. He had a few assists, though - the team tried out a 4-3-3 formation, and he was on the wings as far as I can tell.

Upcoming is a series of games against international competition - Panathinaikos, Rangers and FK Krasnodar.

    Norway

Hirschfeld earned a clean sheet in a scoreless draw for Valerenga at home to Aalesund. Valerenga are tenth in the table.

    Sweden

Interesting result at AIK as they went back to Turina again over Kenny S but got hammered 4-0 by second place Malmo for only their second loss of the season. Hope to see our Canadian back starting next match.

    Finland

Trafford played 90 for Mariehamn as they drew 2-2 away to Honka.

    Singapore Cup

Webb scored the first goal as his Hougang United beat Gombak 2-1 to book a place in the semi-finals. Guy is a goal machine.

Pozniak was a late sub in Haugesund's Norwegian Cup win over Odd Grenland. They made it to the quarterfinals.

    UEFA EUROPA League

Riley O'Neill started for MyPA as they drew scoreless away to Cefn Druids in Wrexham. He picked up a yellow card in front of the nearly 814 fans in attendance (Druids were 6th place in the Welsh second tier Cymru Alliance in 2011-12, but qualified as runners up in the Welsh League Cup to put things in perspective)

    Sweden

Chencinski was on the bench for bottom Orebro as they beat GAIS 1-0.

Tried to find out about what's happening at Samara for Joseph Di Chiara. His club are training in Austria and the last time I can find his name included in the squad was July 4 vs Tavria. Samara lost 2-1 and JDC seems to have played 90 min: http://eng.kc-camapa.ru/cgi-bin/newsprn.cgi?3373

He wasn't included this past week vs CSKA Moscow, when Samara looks to have fielded close to a first team and the season starts July 22nd so perhaps he is in the same sort of situation as last year taxiing between the first team and the reserves. It will be fun to follow him again this season. (BTW The club just signed to Parguayans from Olimpia, Luis Caballero and Pablo Zeballos)

The club have done a great job with their English homepage: http://eng.kc-camapa.ru/cgi-bin/pls.cgi?n=6809
