French possessions New Caledonia and Tahiti will fight for the Oceania crown this weekend and a place in next year's Confederation Cup. New Caledonia beat NZ 2-0. They tied the Solomon Islands earlier. CONCACAF #4 plays the Oceania winner, correct?

Oh, how the mightiest of the Pacific minnows have fallen. They get one more chance to qualify for WC though.

My understanding is that they (New Caledonia) get to play in the Confederations Cup, but the top 4 teams in Oceania will have a group round to decide who goes to the World Cup.

When Australia moved into the Asian Confederation, why didn't FIFA just collapse Oceania's federation into Asia's?
