THAT is effing funny. Absolutely brutal, but funny.

Funny because, like you know, it happened to them.

Bit weird these cup competitions. In the big scheme of things the Vs Cup may have lost some of its appeal simply because the bigger clubs all play in the same league now. I think the novelty of inter-league (NASL vs MLS) competition has odviously been lost in the latest edition of the Vs Cup but if 5 years ago you said 15,000 people would show up in Montreal, Toronto, or Vancouver for a Canadian Championship outside of league play I think we'd all be very, very happy if that proved to be true. Talk about changing expectations.

(NASL expansion in Canada will help the tourney immensely. The more the merrier).

In the US you get the feeling that the more mature football markets view the USOC a little more seriously than some of the other markets. And not just Seattle although the Cascadia contingent has certainly added a seriousness to the tourney which may be proving to be a bit contagious. League play isn't the end and be all for these franchises and the USOC is a potential route to CONCRAP Champions League.

Bit blurry on how the Yanks default their slots in CCC. By that I mean if a team qualifies twice, say by winning the MLS Cup and USOC, what determines which team bumps up into CCC to fill that redundancy? Final league standing? And what happens if say a Canadian team lands in one of the US MLS slots? Clearly that result gets ignored but again, what determines which US based team gets bumped up into CCC?
For it's a grand old team to play for.

4th round now in the books. The only MLS club knocked out by a lower level team are the New York Red Bulls who lost 3-1 to the Harrisburg City Islanders (USL Pro). Amateur side Cal FC ran into a brick wall called the Seattle Sounders who pounded them 5-0

QF set for June 26 as follows:

Harrisburg City Islanders (USL Pro) vs Philadelphia Union
Dayton Dutch Lions (USL Pro) vs Sporting Kansas City
Charlotte Eagles (USL Pro) Vs Chivas USA
San Jose Earthquakes vs Seattle Sounders

so 5 MLS sides and 3 USL Pro sides left.
