5 wins 1 draw no loses
I hope i'm wrong but I dont think we will make it to the hex and lose out to Honduras. Your thoughts?
5 wins 1 draw no loses
My experience with this particular core of players is that when expectations are low they punch above their weight and then we (or they? or both?) start thinking the squad is better than it may actually be it promptly has a bedsh*tting match.
For this team to be successful it needs to have a true workmanlike, all for one and one for all team effort. I didn't see that from enough key individuals last time out and almost all of the same guys are back for this go around. Hart's built to a team and tactical style to keep things close/tight so I think we'll be in it down to the final match day, and then it's a dice roll.
This is the first cycle since 1998 where people are not talking about the lousy draw we got. Thats cause we got a great draw for once. My expectation is that we get through to the hex and everything else is bonus. As was stated in another thread, we have two wins since 2000 in wcq: vs Panama in Winnipeg and away vs Guatemala (we were eliminated before both games). Theres been too many downers that a good result in the first game would mean everything.
"Greatness, no matter how brief, stays with a man"
I don't think we'll make the hex. Panama is a really strong team now, perhaps even better than Honduras. Plus we don't really have the home field advantage they enjoy in 35 degree weather with hostile crowds.
As George Costanza once said
"If every instinct you have is wrong, then the opposite would have to be right."
Canada will win if Hart does the opposite.
