One Last thought,
Kansas City Wizards.
Brilliant name. Evokes the history and Lore of the mid-west. Sladly lacking in the "Dorothy Gray Stadium" department however.
Sporting KFC on the other hand?.... WTF is that all about!

Ottawa Fury are established and that would be a good name to keep. But Capital City would be even better. Drop the "FC", since practially every other team uses it, and it's really a default: every team is really an FC. And the word "city" would have adouble meaning: the team nickname and it forms a phrase about what Ottawa is, i.e. the capital city.
So if CCFC doesn't start up again (too bad in a way; last season was great), then I'd go for simply Capital City.
BTW, the Fury and CCFC did not share a stadium: Algonquin vs. Terry Fox.
My mistake. CCFC shared the same stadium as the former Ottawa Intrepid by Mooney's Bay, not the Ottawa Fury...
If we really want to move away from the existing or neutral name, couldnt we call it something like "By Town" ala Ipswich Town? My only problem with Capital City FC (or Capital City) is that it seems like a very obvious name to have, but doesnt speak to its unique history aside from being the Capital.
This may speak to my perspective as an "out of towner" (though I've been in Ottawa for 4 years now and have established roots here)...
Locals hate to hear this, but its the truth. For non-Ottawans, Ottawa is a boring government town that happens to be the capital. Its all they know or care to know of Ottawa. Capital City label means TWO things for Canadians... indifference or shear distain at no fault of the locals (its the politicians fault).
This is a real opportunity to show that Ottawa is more than just the capital. Its a town with its own unique history and character in spit of the fact that it’s the Capital.
I know I know… its just a 2nd division soccer team and I’m over thinking the name. But unlike other local organizations, sports clubs are travelling organizations that carry its brand everywhere it goes.
In the English speaking world, there are Capital Cities other than Ottawa. Washington, London, Canberra or Wellington all could have used Capital City FC as a name for a soccer club…

RoughRiders!
If thats a justiification for droping the name, then satire just left the building and hailed a cab to the local Pierhead, from which to hurl itself into the briney deep with weighty volumes of Harry Potter novels tied around its legs!
You know, somehow, I don't remember Dorothy Grey tapping her heels together three times and waking up in a room full of Burning Crosses and Men with Pointy hats!
Still I don't live in Kansas, so who am I to Judge.
No worries, Still, you got me to write that Dorothy grey line; for which I truly thank you![]()
Protega's post seems to have disappeared... ANyhow, here is my response anyways.
Nepean is right up there if you count both boys/girls teams. The Nepean Hotspurs are represented in the OYSL for the girls program. The boys team plays in the OCSL, its not a bad league. They've had several graduates in recent years that earned NCAA scholarships...
So you want SC instead? People might mix it up with Supporters Club! They can leave out FC... But using SC is just plain odd.
I'm estimating here, but I think you'll find that once the team gets established, about a third of the supporters will come from people are followers of the European game. Another third will be drawn from kids and parents involved in local youth clubs, and another third will be drawn from the curious/casual supporters.
Using SC may alienate the Euro crowd. I hate the idea of pandering to Eurosnobs, but I'm not sure Ottawa is a large enough market for the owners to be picking and choosing the type of supporters they should cater to.
If the fear is that people will get confused between CFL football and soccer (give Ottawan's some credit...), they can use AFC instead of FC to make the distinction.
