Thread: Red Team Elimination Watch .....

An interesting tidbit from the following article: http://slam.canoe.ca/Slam/Soccer/Tor.../19636356.html

Having scored just twice in five league games, the Reds are at the bottom in goals scored … As a team, Toronto trails 12 MLS players in total goals this season. Along with San Jose’s Chris Wondolowski, New York’s Thierry Henry and Kenny Cooper both have seven goals through six league matches.

A second interesting tidbit from the same article:

"If you see all the games we are the better team. Only difference is that (we) don't have points," Winter said -- a minor detail when trailing league-leading Kansas City by 18 points not even two months into the season.

    Default Montreal ties DC...

Montreal with a tie tonight is looking better the tie with DC in an away match helps move them up the table. With so many games away to start the season you have to think Montreal at home may well become stronger as the season goes on.

TFC is going to have to get a result versus Chicago or you have think they will be having dissent in the dressing room.

Its going to be long season for Montreal but they can get better as the team gels and the coach can refine his system and line up.

TFC now is 0 wins, 6 loses, and zero ties... today Torsten Frings was back and apparently healthy for the full game, what is the explanation now for the loss ?

Perhaps if you start to take your blinkers off you may see the glaring structural problems in the club from the head office folks right down to the on field coaches and players.

jpg75 You have been vocal in your support great.. but where really is your team going now at 0-6-0 heading into two tough games and the need to get up for your Voyageurs cup appearances, which seem to be the only significant competition Toronto has left to hope for result from ( well some will want you to win against Liverpool but that is just silly ...to contemplate on all levels )

Funny, i guess Winter takes us for idiots, cuz obviously a team that coughs up an early lead and has to play from behind all the time is going to clearly look like the better team when they have to chase the game...

Anyone else have a strong suspicion that one thing Winter won't be taking is a place in the coach's box at Rio Tinto next week and neither will de Klerk?

i was hoping it wouldnt come to this, another coaching change, but i think that more and more they dont have anymore choices. The playing philosphy that he espouses is just not working. Maybe its not meant for MLS. The team is allowing tons of goals and they hardly look creative in the buildup.

Unfortunately, I have to agree with you. The last thing I want to see is another coaching change, but ..........

I don’t agree that the 4-4-3 not meant for MLS is the issue per se, since “theoretically” this would be a better team with an athletic CB who is comfortable with the ball at his feet allowing TFC to play out of the back. The team is generating chances (snakebitten for most) and most of their conceded goals came down to individual errors.

Given the RSL game is a practical write off, it will probably come down to next home game.

    But who knows....
