Default CS LONGUEUIL at the MIC Football Tournament

I think that the CS LONGUEUIL u-16 is the only Canadian rep at the MIC tournament on the Spanish Costa Brava (www.micfootball.com), with over 500 teams, one of the largest youth tourneys in the world. In previous years I think Callies sent teams here, there have always been a few CDN clubs involved.

Longueuil have gone into the second round after showing well in the first round, with group stage win, a draw and a 1-0 loss vs. the Brazil national team, already 5-0 and 7-0 winners over the other rivals. Brazil usually sends strong teams here, I saw a pic of a few years ago with a team including Neymar and Coutinho.

Maybe someone knows about this Québec club?

In 2008 there was a team from Quebec City that went to this tournament.

Last year Longueuil finished 1st in the Ligue Elite de soccer du Québec in the U-15. Last season they were coached by Jackson Andrade (if he's the guy I think of, he is a former pro keeper in Brazil). I'm not sure if he's still the coach. Looking at the Quebc provincial teams it seems they do have some Longueuil players.

^Longueuil have a 1-1-1 record after a 3-0 win, 1-1 draw, and 1-0 loss. Looks like they'll be playing EF Gerones-Sabat in the second round today. Do you guys know anything of EF Berones-Sabat? They seem to be a Catalan side (though I only quickly googled them, so may be mistaken) who've done well by winning all three of their opening fixtures without conceding a goal (3-0, 1-0, 5-0).

Looks like the boys have gone down 2-0 to ES Gerones-Sabat.

I've also noticed it looks like there is another Longueuil side participating in the tournament - U12 PATRIOTES LONGUEUIL (4-0 Win, 0-0, and 10-0 loss to FC Barcelona). The first match was played on the 4th April, and the second two matches were both played on the 5th April.
The (Les?) Patriotes went into the consolation final group stage where they won the quarter final 2-1 (played at 10 am) and then went out to what appears to be the Korean National U12 team later (17:00) on the 6th April.

To be fair to the boys, the FC Barca side they were beaten by have won the semis 6-0, quarters 8-0, after an opening round of victories 14-0, 9-0 and 10-0. It appears Barca may have a few more half-decent youth products coming through to the first team again in a couple of years!

Braves d'Ahuntsic in the U16 is also a team from Quebec.

Club de soccer Rapide (U12) might also be from Quebec (soccer + french name).

    Edit: http://jay-gorter.blogspot.ca/

Club de soccer Rapide is indeed from Canada.

    Default More Results MIC

Okay, thanks for the tips here are the results for CDN sides. The winners overall were Espanyol in girls, Aspire from Qatar won u-18, u-16 and u-14 (something only Brazil has done previously), FC Barcelona won u-12 11 a side and Gimnastic Manresa, from a city outside of Barcelona, the u-12 7-a-side tournament.

Patriotes Longueil as mentioned was in the U-12 11 a side tournament, they lost in the first round to FCBarcelona the eventual champion, they did not make the second round as only group winners went through (currently in Spain U-12 play 7-a-side and most local teams were in that tournament). In the consolation round of 16 they beat a local team from the Girona area, in quarters lost to Korean YFA who eventually won the consolation tournament.

In the same tournament u-12 11-a-side, Club de Soccer Rapide beat local side Palafrugell playing in their home field 6-2, lost 10-0 to Ajax Amsterdam and then lost again to Vilassar 3-0, again a local team. In the consolation round they lost 2-1 to Rotherham United and went out.

In the first round Braves d'Ahuntsic u-16 beat Elite UK 4-0, lost to Catalan side Atletic Valles 2-1 and then beat Bellmare Odawara 5-0 to go into the second round. There in a group of 3 they lost 3-0 to Espanyol, eventual runner-up and with an academy as strong as Barça's, then tied a match 3-3 to go out of the tournament.

Just to say a great many teams in this tournament are from Catalonia and especially from the Costa Brava where it is held, often clubs with a senior team that is amateur or semi-pro in 5-8th tier Spain. But major clubs also send teams and it is where Brazil goes to see their youth players vs. European sides, the player of Brazil that everyone was watching and asking for an autograph was Adryan Tavares, star in last summer's World u-17 cup and in the orbit of Man Utd
