I applaud your initiative and wish you success with this tournament.
Well, since the last thread was pretty detracted by someone who decided they are apparently going to try the same thing, and a couple of trolls and people trying to talk about the name way after it was already changed, I decided I'm going for fresh start.
I am going to try and organize an Inter league tournament between the Challenge Cup and the Voyageurs Cup.
I have a CSL club conditionally on board (assuming everything works out) and a potential venue in the works.
I am provisionally planning on hosting it in Toronto, I am currently starting the process of trying to get OSA sanctioning, failing that I may try and bring the topic up to the FQS. I cannot get any sort of CSA support at this time but they are generally for the idea on it's own (I feel the door is still open enough that if I got everything organized, they would want a call from me).
I am going to be approaching teams from other leagues to push this inter league angle before I get back to the CSL clubs, for now a Quebec league team and if I can get OSA sanctioning I'll move on to the new league and a pdl team. Also I am organizing it for the pre-season, when Edmonton is damn cold so god willing, if I can get everything together, I can make a strong pitch to them to spend their pre-season in Toronto.
I initially mentioned I would be willing to share half of any proceeds to the V's but it's been made pretty clear by a few extra vocal people that apparently I should keep any potential earnings, so sorry to any reasonable but quiet folks who wanted this to be a revenue source for the V's.

"Charmaine Hooper... the best player ever"
Hey I'm a bit confused as to how this is going to work. What are the details for this, like competition format, etc...? I wonder the the HUSA Alumni from here in town would want to enter this simply to play higher caliber teams.
8-1 And We're Still Here
I want to get 8 teams from a few of the more competitive leagues across canada. 2 groups of 4, maybe a couple weeks, it's a huge undertaking so getting teams from far away from central canada might be unrealistic but some may be planning some sort of pre season trip anyways and I'll hope to convince them to come to Toronto if they'll be travelling.
If I can get a few teams from outside the GTA on board, for my part I could try and arrange some sort of bulk lodging deal by booking their stays together.
For the first year, without a season under the new leagues belt and no previous result, I'll just want a token team from each decent league, but based on their play (and inviting champions the next season) I could potentially start adjusting 'spots' per league (for this year I'd be more then content to just get a token appearance and maybe half CSL squads).
edit: Realistically, if everything went quickly enough including sanctioning AND there was a lot more interest then just the eight teams I had invited I could potentially expand it to 12 or 16 teams but everything would have to be going ridiculously well for that to be possible.

Judy, For Clarification I have a couple of questions.
Are you looking at Round Robin format or Home and Away Knockout?
Also. Are you looking to encompass amature, Semi-Pro , and full time Professions here?
Personally, I think your woring on something potentially exciting. Good luck
One location tournament, 2 groups for round robin and then one off semi finals and final.
Generally it is meant for the semi pro level - ish, A lot of top amateur teams aren't involved in the challenge cup, so I'd like to include them, as well as try and woo FCE by timing it for when Edmonton is still cold.
The best part of it, I think, is although it's preseason, this would be the best chance to see a CSL team play a team from one of the new league or a PDL team and really see how they all stack up. ohhh and it's Ju'b'y (I'm only a stickler cause it's my last name).
the leagues do have different start dates, just a heads up as im sure you already know.
NASL FCE April 7th in Flordia
CSL usually starts early May.
PDL-college kids so I believe June. Do the PDL teams in Canada still have a practicing year round team though?? Quite possible.
Again, good luck.
I was aiming for mid to late Marchish, and I wasn't sure about the pdl clubs either, I figured if I had everything going I'd call around and see if any did have playable squad and interest. If everything got going, but if I got no interest from FCE, I could probably push it into April (The idea of an NASL team is pretty unlikely, but it won't hurt to try)
