He had great season and certainly deserved to be on the short list of finalists. But i am surprised that Brek Shea didnt win.

Congratulations to De Rosario.
Too bad TFC had to get rid of him in one of the worst trades in MLS history.
I'm sad that it didn't work out in Toronto.

Has anyone in the history of the game ever won the MVP and played on 3 teams in the same season?
Edit: Or any game?
We were once so close to heavan
Peter came out and gave us medals

Kudos and well earned at that to Dero.
I don't think the 3 teams thing was ever an issue. If anyone pays any attention at all to any professional league MVP awards they will likely have noted that the awards should really be called "Best Player this Season". Endless debate over this in all NA pro sports.
While I don't think DeRo was deserving of the MLS MVP this year, the guy is clearly one of the very best players in MLS history. He's 33 years old and isn't going to have too many seasons left where he might be a finalist. Upon reflection, I can live with him winning the award as much on "lifetime achievement" grounds as anything.
Not every day is Christmas.
Didn't A-Rod win American League MVP while playing for a last place team, or something of the sort?
The voters this year had a tough choice. On statistical grounds, Dero absolutely destroyed the competition in terms of output. He finished the season strong which some of the other players who were close behind didn't. There's also this strange dynamic where a few of the top players are clustered on good teams and collectively ones achievement is competiting with the others (eg. Beckham and Donovan, Montero and Rosales).
The three teams thing is strange, but it really in my opinion only serves to underscore the dysfunction of a few MLS head-offices. NY and TFC got peanuts in return for their assets.
i dont think that this has ever happened in any sport. As far as elsewhere in the game (ie.: Europe etc) i dont know that you can be transferred more than once in a season. You can only change clubs as far as i know during the transfer window and that only happens once (in January).
Dont know about the case of getting loaned out and then transferred or transferred and then loaned out. But anyone who gets loaned out is not ever going to win any kind of MVP honnors.

Much to the chagrin of some here, but more honours for our most honoured product:

Is his contract up at the end of this year? Nice calling card if it is.
