The NCAA tournament field has been pared down to the final 4. Daniel Tannous and UNC, as well as Ethan Finley of Creighton are the only "Canadians" still playing (would love to get confirmation whether Finlays' father is actually Canadian or not - lying about his College Hockey career not disqualifying him from being Canadian). Hoping he is Canadian as he's been named as a Hermann trophy finalist:

Finlay has 3 goals in 3 tournament games. He has 14G 6A for the season.
Tannous has not played in any of UNC's 3 games.
Bekker and BC lost to Rutgers in the 2nd round on PK's. Bekker played the whole game and led the team with 5 shots.
Maryland beat W. Va. 4-0 in the 2nd round and then lost to Louisville 4-2 in the 3rd round. Parker Seymour not dressed for either match.
UConn lost in the QF's to Charlotte 1-0, Matheson subbed on in the 74th min. and had a shot on goal. He was subbed off in the 81st and replaced by Liu who then subbed off 2 mins. later. Each of them was subbed back on in OT. In the 2nd round UConn beat Monmouth 2-1, Matheson started and was subbed out in the 14th min. and was subbed back on 2 more times. Liu was subbed on and then off late in the game. In the 3rd round UConn beat James Madison 3-0, Matheson and Liu played 24 mins. as subs and Goodridge for 3 mins.
UAB lost to Charlotte 3-1 in the 2nd round. Sodade played the whole match and had 3 shots.

There will be some Canadians involved
There's a Canadian midfielder on Charlotte who's pretty highly rated, Evan James he's the teams #10 and is second on the team in points. There's another Canadian on Charlotte, Anthony Perez. James is a key player and it looks like Perez sees time in almost every match. So it might be worth checking these guys out and if James impresses he has a chance to catch some MLS eyes.
I saw some lists on player rankings by conference, quite a few up there in their respective conferences. Including James who is ranked 5th in his conference behind another Canuck, Simon Gomez at #4

Anyways here's an article on Finlay

So his dad showed him the NCAA plaque apparently... just doesn't make sense. Either way he was brought up as a hockey player first so I think we can assume his dad was Canadian hahah. Good news for us potentially.

There were two showcases on last week in which more than 100 Canadian and American coaches attended to take a look at local players.
I never made it out to the Winstars Academy showcase at Wild Water Kingdom, but did see a bit of the Sigma Showcase.
There was a pretty good turnout throughout the two-day event.
Sigma did some videos and posted them to their YouTube channel.
Here is a link to the Showcase playlist.
There was a good video interview with Emery Welshman and his coach at Oregon State, Steve Simmons, who was in attendance.
Here is a link to that video. Emery certainly is a well-spoken young man.
In my opinion SIGMA are one of the few clubs in this country with any vision, one of the only clubs trying to go out there and try to create opportunities for their players to play at a higher level. Well done to them.

Is Sigma a pay to play program? I figure it is, just wondering though
Sigma has done a great job - but how much is this also down to access to population? I have no doubt they are an excellent club, excellent coaches, and have good intentions. But there are other clubs trying to achieve the same things.
I can name plenty of clubs in BC trying to create opportunities for players to play at a higher level. Probably 10-12 in BC certainly fit this description, while the others I might leave off this list are left off simply because of the size of their clubs and the fact they are basically feeders for the 10-12....BC soccer is taking strides and will make a "come back" over the next 2-10 years....I suggest such a large window as some success will continue now at national level (club and individual players) but will probably start to peak in 10 years....after the current cycle of u10-u12 players go through all the rungs of elite youth soccer and the Whitecaps expand their scouting network.
