    Default TFC vs. Chicago (R)

    Fire 2 TFC 0

TFC players can't hit an accurate cross to save their lives.

Players that need to go for next year:
Borman, Iro, Yourass, Martina, Sturgis, JDG (who is playing well, but not DP well)
Ecks and Plata have looked poor the last several games as well.

A lot will be solved when Dicoy Williams and Adrian Cann return from injury next year. Hopefully Nicholas Lindsay can resume his form.

TFC will need to address it's wingbacks, wide midfielder, and outside forwards for next year. They will have a good spine with Danny K, Frings, Cann and keeper, they are just lacking in so many places.

Your negativity and bandwagon approach has no limits. They had two goal posts and, on the whole, they played well tonight.......but still lost. Even Iro had good game. Last game in Panama they were crap but still managed to win. Thats how it is sometimes. Thats why the first goal is important in soccer. And there were some good crosses but the keeper did well to get to them and or the fwds were well marked.

You never improve as team by throwing everybody under the bus and rebuilding every f@@@@@@@ year. You need some consistency. Sturgis may not be back because thats how it is in MLS with americans playing in Canada but he has not been bad this year except for the first game versus Vancouver. Of course there will be changes in the off season, as there always is, but i see elements to build on that are already here. There are a lot of very young players on the team and consistency has been a problem. With young players that's to be expected.

I'm sorry you feel that my negativity and bandwagon approach has no limits. I thought it was pretty objective and mirrored the sentiment of many other posters on the RPB forum. What parts of my post did you not agree with? Do you feel the players listed should in fact stay with TFC? Did you feel that many crosses were accurate tonight? Do you think Dicoy Williams and Adrian Cann won't help when they return from injury. Have Plata and Ecks not looked bad the last few games? Please explain to me how the post is overly negative and how it's bandwagon jumping. Thanks!

Iro has only been with TFC for about a month. Yes, he had howler of a game recently but give credit where credit is due, i didnt see anything wrong with him tonight. You were saying all those guys gotta go. Yet, was Iro given a fair change after only about four to six games? How about waiting until at least the end of season to reach that conclusion. I never thought sturgis was that bad everytime i saw him play. And, as far as Deguzman, i never thought he worth DP money but for the last couple weeks, he has been pretty close to being worth that money.

I agree about Martina, Yourass and perhaps Borman but its not like these guys are making all that much money to begin with. This is salary cap league, so its about value for the money. Every team is going to have their Yourass, Borman and Martina.

As far as Eck and Plata. They are young players. Cripes, do you know that Plata is eighteen. Yes consistency has been a problem with him, but overall he has had a damn good year for an eighteen year old.

I'd say the difference with TFC and teams like FC Dallas is it's hard to spot a Yourass, Borman or Martina on the pitch for FC Dallas when they play. I know Iro had one howler of a game, but besides today's game, he's looked weak in every other game. I'd rather have Henry in than him any game, especially at this point of the season where the emphasis should be on development of younger players - outside of CCL games that is.

You acknowledge that De Guzman is in form, but also feel like he is not playing up to DP standards. What is "DP" standard exactly? Landon Donovan or Mustapha Jarju? To be fair, JDG has been disappointing over his TFC career, but as I see it he would fall in the middle at the moment, as would the two other DP's. I don't think there is much argument for getting rid of a player who is playing well and doing what is expected of him. Let's face it, even if TFC got rid of him, they probably wouldn't replace him with a HIGH profile DP anyways. Plus JDG also is a domestic and is currently helping the squad. If I were TFC I would offer him an extension at the end of the season if he continues to play well.

The DP standard is an appropriate return on investment. For me that would mean an elite player in the league. Examples of current DP's across MLS that would currently meet that definition are: Landon Donovan, Eric Hassli, David Ferreira (when not out injured for the year). Mustapha Jarju IMHO so far looks like he might not pan out the way the whitecaps had hoped, although it's still early. I'm a big fan of the way some teams bring foreign players in, let them prove their worth and then offer DP money if they feel it's merited: ie Alvaro Saborio at RSL and Freddy Montero at Seattle. A lot of teams could learn by following that philosophy.

Sounds about right but Martina, Yourassowsky, Borman, and Iro didn't play well, considering their non-domestic statuses. They were brought in to add the missing ingredient to TFC and in this game they were not up to snuff.

Not sure of what you mean here: an extension of his current salary, DP status, and cap hit?

I think he will (and should) be offered the max salary at the end of the season and if he doesn't want it he'll have to find another MLS home or go to Europe. I would love to see De Guzman in Mexico, the money is good, it's not too far, he can speak Spanish and he would be playing in the top CONCACAF league.
