good on Simeon. 3 goals in an FA cup match against a larger club and getting some publicity for his performance can only help him move his career forward. maybe a larger club takes notice and makes a play for him in January.

He scored 2 goals...
oops...it's late...I misread
I saw the goals yesterday evening on BBC Match of the Day and they were both very good finishes. The first one came from a low cross into the box from the right and it went in via the under side off the cross bar. The 2nd one came from a ball over the top and Jackson came running from the right side of the penalty area , took a few steps and blasted the ball over the goalkeeper who possibly could have done better.
Only one bit of advice to Simeon...
PLEASE STOP the crazy celebration. It's awful... jumping on one foot while holding a gangster lean and waving his hand. Someone should give the boy a smack..![]()
And here's an example of how it is so tough to really know who will emerge as a great footballer at this age. Simeon was never regarded as one of our top U20 talents, certainly not to the degree that Lombardo, Edgar, Peters etc. were, and right now he seems to be the only one of this lot making some progress. Yes, he's in a much lower division, but he IS making a name for himself. Peters is struggling, Edgar having a brutal time cracking the first team and Lombardo looking pretty darn blah for TFC. Begovic has had a rough go, too. I want all these lads to do extraordinarily well, but am pleased to see Simeon continuing his good progress.
You can add Johnson and to a lesser extent JBB as more succesfull U-20's at the pro level.quote:Originally posted by The Beaver

Agreed on all your points. I asked in another thread if anyone out there knew what sort of system or role Jackson was playing in so I could get a better grasp of how he plays; with the U20s he seemed to be played as a wide mid player, I believe, who liked to take on an opponent in winger-style. If so, he's following in the footsteps of converted wingers who became pretty successful goal scoring strikers (Bettega, Rossi, Vialli, Rummenigge, Lineker from the past, and more recently that French bloke who does the Gillette commercials with Woods and Federer). I wish him a ton of continued success, hopefully in a higher league in January. Way to go, Simeon!quote:Originally posted by The Beaver

SIMEON JACKSON could be on the move to Crystal Palace. Word is that Palace manager Neil Warnock has been keeping an eye on him as he plies his trade with Rusden.

That's good news for him. He's done very well in the level he's at but it's time to move on. It's not realistic to expect to show up everywhere you go and start. At the top levels you're pretty much always going to have to win your spot.
