I'm optimistic he will play for us just for the simple fact that he has not chosen to play for Holland yet.
He is still not eligible to play for Holland, as he does not have citizenship.
He may not have it yet (Or maybe he has) but he could have got Dutch citizenship already a few years ago.

If you spend 5 years in Holland then you are almost guaranteed a Dutch passport. Considering he moved here when he was 12 means he could have got his passport already at his 18th birthday.

He has just been stalling the decision.

I hope van Marwijk can make him realize how good he his and continue to encourage him to show more guts. If this happens then just maybe Jonathan will realize the difference he can make for Canada not only at the World Cup but in qualifying for it. Furthermore, if Jonathan chooses to suit up for his homeland it might just have a positive effect on others who are in similar positions which would further improve Canada on the pitch.

Jonathan is in a unique position to make such a difference in many aspects. I hope he realizes this. It may well take guts for him to choose to play for Canada (this is something I can't fathom as it would be a no-brainer for me) and I for one am hoping that he does have those guts.
Our manager certainly can do that. Jonathan also has two role-models in Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Roy Makaay at the club who are teaching him a hell of a lot and they are saying a lot of nice things about him in the media.

Makaay recently said that he already could tell that Jono was a great player from the first time he practiced with him.

And Van Bronckhorst and Makaay know what they are talking about. They've had massive careers and are respected worldwide...

Having players like that in the team is I think more important than a good manager.

I assume once we start World Cup qualifying is when the decision will be made. So when do the group games start? 2008?

    Good times!
