Default Jonathan De Guzman gives Canadian fans hope

    From 125_TFC on RPB forum.

    http://www.telesport.nl/voetbal/2165..._voetbal_.html

Bert van Marwijk (Feyenoord Manager) said that De Guzman hasnt asked him for advice yet regarding his International Future , and that De Guzman is already a great player for Dutch Football and hoped he would be one for the MNT as well.

He also said that Jonathan is in comparison to other players of is age a bit too modest about his ability , and he doesnt quite know how good he really is. He told him at half-time that he had to show more guts to try and force something in the game and he certainly did that.

Jonathan said a couple of things as well...

'' What am I waiting for..? I'm waiting mostly on myself. I cant and simply dont want to say something about it now. Offcourse the Dutch play on a much higher level but playing with my brother for Canada is also very attractive. I just still need to weigh up all the options and advantages/disadvantages in my choice.

''The only thing I know is that my brother supports me on whatever I decide''

De Guzman scored two goals today, and they can be found in this set of highlights. His second goal is very nice.It is long video,he scored in second half between 55-65 min.

    Lets hope for best.

I already posted that here yesterday in the Can Abroad topic..

When I get the black sack the CSA shirt send by VPjr , I will travel to Rotterdam to a Feyenoord practice session to deliver one to him and one to Jacob Lensky. I'll probably do that in October when the Euro qualifiers are being played...

Have lots of time with both of them then without too many other fans as most of the stars will be away then. Maybe I can get a few useful words out of him...

I'm a Feyenoord supporter and I really get the feeling that he wants to play for Canada but there has to be some ambition shown by the men who make important decisions.

He could have chosen to play for Holland already 2 years ago. You need to live in Holland for at least 5 years in order to get a Dutch passport. Jonathan has been here since he was 12 so he could have got his Dutch passport already at his 18th birthday.

It could be that he has one already....who knows. I dont think he had to take the ''Dutch Knowledge'' test as well since he completed his education here so it's just a case of going to city hall and fill in a couple of forms.

I think that playing for Holland only is a last resort choice but Canada need to hurry.

Hopefully the T-Shirt will be a ''sign (Even if it's small)'' that fans want changes and that things are happening for the better.

That's De Jong getting beat to the ball by JDG2 on the third Feyenoord goal. He was also chasing him on the play that led to the first goal, but the turnover was not his fault and he was trying to catch up from further upfield.

SCF08 that is a great idea! Coincidentally, yesterday i was thinking about doing the exact same thing when i go visit my dad in Essen, Germany.

How long is the trip to Kerkrade? Might be a good idea to get one to Marcel De Jong too...

Kerkrade is quite close to the German border so it shouldnt be too long I guess. It would be great if you gave Marcel de Jong a visit there in Kerkrade. Then all 3 ''problem childs'' get a good sorting out..[8D]

De Jong was indeed too late for the 3rd goal. De Jong did gave the pass however on the wide player for the first goal. The wide player got a perfect pass and then gave a great low cross into the box...

    EDIT :

I've just checked www.routenet.nl and according to them it's only 1:17 minutes drive from Essen to Kerkrade...

Roda JC practice at Kaalheide and the morning practice session usually starts at 10:30 ...I dont quite know about afternoon sessions. Probably 14/15:00

after perusing many facebooks and seeing how connected he is to Canada still, I think there is an extremely good chance he will play for us.

I strongly believe he is waiting for the CSA to clean up it's act and it's kinda hard to blame him.

You'll see Jono with us within the year IF we clean up our act!

Yeah, to take Tyson's post a bit further--or in a slightly different but related direction--I suspect that the recent run of good play from our lads is doing something to sway Jono to our cause. If we were crashing on the field, then why bother play for us at all? Yes, playing beside his brother is the main draw, but they want to play together at the highest level, and that can only happen if Canada qualifies for the World Cup. With our team performing better than it has in a long stretch, one has to feel good about our chances, which to be perfectly frank, makes me damned nervous.

If we qualify for the WC, Jono will decide to play for us. Bold prediction, but there you have it.
