Lets wait for the definitive report by Colin Linford..he is the tasked individual to explain the background to the cock up... I am sure in his brusque blunt style of the Kingdom of Firth, he will have it in hand...

Oh damn where is John Rebus when needed...
Now there's a man with no respect for the police at all. Rebus would set them all straight including Chief Blair.

I am in Chile. Here is a link to a photo that I took of a bill board of the U-20 event. It is amazing how many Canadian things is see here, maple leafs on people's hats, jackets and stuff like that. Alot of this is because alot of used clothing comes here for people to buy. I have seen two Calgary flames shirts and there was a exibition of Canadian cinima in a musium in the Presidental pallace complex.

If I would have taken this photo 20 seconds later I would have captured the guy walking his dog while kicking a socer ball.

FIFA bans Chilean for U20 conduct

ZURICH, Switzerland (CP-AP) -- The world governing body of soccer has banned a Chilean player for nine months for his behaviour towards match officials after a bitter semifinal loss to Argentina last month at the FIFA U20 World Cup in Toronto.

FIFA's disciplinary committee also banned Nigeria under-20 coach Ladan Bosso for four months for "offensive behaviour" following his team's 4-0 quarter-final defeat to Chile after extra time in Montreal on July 15.

Chile's Jaime Grondona was on the bench against Argentina but was punished for "two separate cases of assaulting match officials" after the 3-0 loss to Argentina on July 19.

Grondona was also fined 7,000 Swiss francs (C$6,180).

The Chilean soccer association was fined 15,000 Swiss francs (C$13,250) for "team misconduct" for the "aggressive actions" by players and officials at the end of the Argentina match.

Chile had two players sent off and irate Chilean players and officials surrounded the officials after the game. The referee and his assistants eventually left the pitch with a police escort, dodging debris thrown from the stands.

Chilean players brawled with police and security after the match at the team bus outside BMO Field. The players were detained but no charges were laid by police.

FIFA said its responsibility only covered the on-field actions of the team, adding the local organizaing committee and police were responsible for everything else.

Bosso was also fined 11,000 Swiss francs (C$9,715) for suggesting that racism influenced the referee's decisions during the July 15 match in Montreal.

"What happened on the pitch, the officiating, I think FIFA has a long way to go to beat racism, because that official showed racism," Bosso said at the time.
