This is the first time I see a player snatching the red card from the ref hands and I have been around for a long time. Zequinha should have run away with the card and tear it to pieces. That would have been really cool. Well, Portugal took 88 minutes to get their first shot on goal, we only took 66 minutes. Chile looked careless in the second half with a few giveaways and missed tackles. In spite of it all, it is the only team who has not conceded a goal. Interesting. Don't think they will get past Argentina.
Isn't that just about every player's secret soccer fantasy?quote:Originally posted by The Ref

Sniff...boohoo...Boys will be girls. Picking up a red card for time wasting when the other team down 2 guys. Chile has had the best draw so far, their good fortune is about to end..
not sure about chile having best draw - just look at their travel:
toronto - edmonton - toronto - edmonton and now back east to montreal
austria comes close at edmonton - edmonton - toronto - edmonton and now back to toronto
Video of the melt down...

Note at 1:26 of the video, it looks to me like the Portuguese #11 Coentrao (who threw two punches at Chilean legs (?!) but didn't get a card) spits on the fallen Chilean.
Very classy.
Big country, everybody expects to travel.quote:Originally posted by red card

Personally I can't stand watching them. They play that game within a game most SA teams play called fool the ref. Players in great shape getting hurt on every play just doesn't happen.
I don't know if I feel any better about our loss to them, but with two teams from Canada's group making it to the Q-F, it does put a big hole into the theory that Canada had the "easiest group". I think only Argentina's group has as many teams in the Q-F, everybody else just one.quote:Originally posted by red card
after watching chile again, I feel less anguished about canada's loss against them on the field and in the stands
