    Let's discuss tomorrow draw!!!

Here's an article about it. Note that the rules for the draw haven't been release by FIFA yet.

The Canadian players have been spread out for the last few months. Some have been training in Florida while others are playing with their club teams.

Many of the European-based players will return home for two international matches this month. Canada faces Scotland in Burnaby on March 24 and in Victoria on March 27.

"That'll be a chance to get both the groups together and we'll also play one of the better teams from Europe and test ourselves out," Mitchell said.

"We haven't been together as a group since October really. So to get everybody back together is something we're all looking forward to."

I'm not too familiar with these sorts of draws but who are the seeded teams other than Portugal and Canada? Anyone know how it is determined who is seeded and who isn't? I'm guessing that Brazil, Argentina and Spain should be seeded. After that, maybe Nigeria but I'm not sure.

I'm not even sure Portugal will be seeded. First, they didn't finished in UEFA top 2 during qualifiying. Second, they weren't even there in 2005 and their U-17 didn't qualified for Perou 2005 either.

Usually FIFA seeds teams based on teams perforamnces during qualification if qualifying in a tough zone, their past performances at the U-20 and their performance at the last U-17. So, I don't see how can Portugal can be seeded for this year. I guess it will be a draw rule saying "Portugal will be place in Toronto's group and cannot be draw in Canada's group".

My prediction for the 6 seeded teams:

    Canada
    Spain
    Brazil
    Argentina
    Nigeria
Mexico (I've changed Scotland with Mexico, since they won their qualifying group and won the 2005 U-17 WC, but Scotland could be a good choice too)

I don't think there are any seeded teams. They just distribute the teams geographically, not based on quality IIRC. No more than 1 country from each confederation per group.

They had seeded teams in 2005 and Mitchell said that Canada will be a seeded team.

Canada will placed as Host in spot 1 in Group A
Portugal will be placed in spot 1 of Group C

Expect Brazil to be placed in spot 1 of Group D
Expect one of the Asian teams to be placed in spot 1 of Group B or F
Expect Spain to be placed in spot 1 of Group B or F
Expect Argentina (New Info) to be placed in spot 1 of Group E

We'll see how close I come tomorrow...

That doesn't mean they're seeded. That just means there is a large Portugese population in Toronto.

But I could be wrong about there not being any seeds at all.
Anyway, the only thing we're sure about is that the USA will be whining about getting stuck in the toughest group.

There will be seeds based on the usual FIFA criteria:
The FIFA Organising Committee shall form six groups of four teams by seeding and drawing lots in public, whilst taking sporting, geographic and economic factors into consideration, as far as possible.

Oh and the US will get stuck in the toughest group

I don't know how you can predict that Argentina wouldn't be seeded if there are seeds.
    Yes, you're wrong.

Did you read what I wrote? Canada's coach said yesterday that Canada will be seeded and will avoid some of the best teams. Also, in 2005 in Holland they had seeded teams.
