The FIFA commitee is in Canada to inspect the venues. They are in Montreal tomorrow with CONCACAF president Jack Warner.
What ever happened to his reprimand for being a huge crook reselling thousands of WC tickets at astronomical prices? [V]

Canadian Soccer Association COO Kevan Pipe says 20 exhibition matches have already been planned for Canada's side in preparation for the championship.
I wonder if that is including those already played or is actually 20 from now until the tournament. Let's hope that before the next WCQ that the CSA has a similar brain storm idea that a lot of friendlies is good preparation before important tournaments.
One of the pre-tournament games will be May 11, 2007 in Toronto.

Local soccer fans get the shaft

They should really get over this for the benefit of this competition, people in Edmonton are getting on my nerve with this neverstop childish complaining.
In 2002 Edmonton received more games than Toronto or Ottawa or Montreal and no one complained, but this time around Edmonton have to cry and cry again and try to sabotage the event by making it a Toronto vs Edmonton affair when they should show some unity for the good of this project and soccer in Canada.
The question of the final location is very debatable (with positives and negatives arguements for both Cities) but it's time to get over it!!!
Good news about that may 11 game, I think it could be Argentina, the world champ.
I assume that you are talking about WCQ in 2002. Can you tell me where the nats would have played a WCQ match in any of Toronto, Ottawa or Montreal? BTW, Edmonton has already sold half of their available tickets for next summer's WYC.quote:Originally posted by loyola

No, I'm talking about the 2002 U-19 WWC.
The question still stands. Where would they have played? The article is expressing a certain amount of well-earned bitterness at the CSA for making Edmonton, the number 1 city in Canada for Canada home games, suffer at the expense of the GTA.
Games were played in Victoria and Burnaby so I guess Ottawa with Frank Clair and Montreal at CCR would've been OK to get some games.
They are building a new SSS in Toronto, I think it's normal to use it for this competition and give a chance to the East to show that they are supporting soccer too. I'm not gonna go again with the arguments (just like I,ve said, they're some positives and negatives for both stadiums and cities).
In 2002 it was the West, in 2007 it will be the East, we'll see who'll get the 2011 final if we get the WWC.
If by 'suffer at the expense of the GTA', you mean 'will get two of the three Canada matches', then you have a point.quote:Originally posted by Ed

BMO Field is the only stadium being built for this event. It makes sense for the new stadium to get the final (which is how all of the Edmonton whining originated), doesn't it?
