people continue to applaud the world cup and soccer in general for ever-increasing television ratings.

    a) of course they rise, more games are being shown on television.
    b) all this means to me is more people can afford, or are given, televisions these days.

i would say the ratio of people watching is the same now as it was in 1986, but now people watch at home rather than as groups on a couch with a small black and white tv.

They've shown all World Cup games for at least 3 editions, now.

Yep, the commentators during the game are from TWI who produce the world feed for the EPL, that's what's seen on Sportsnet, The Score, FSC & FSWC. John Helm & Gary Bloom are some of the play by play announcers, last season they added colour commentators such as David Pleat.

At the last World Cup CBC use the BBC feed while TSN use the world feed.

And this is a myth as well.

I can't count the times I have gone and watched games on Commercial street in Vancouver, College in Toronto ect.. to get chastised for being Canadian and liking football, then explaining the offside rule to same old Italian guy moments later.
