Default Wrong Answer to Sportsnet Trivia question?

Apart from all of their other cock-ups recently, Sportsnet's triva question for a Euro2004 prize of some kind was "What are the only two countries to have met in the final of the tourney who no longer exist?"

The answer they gave was USSR vs. Yugoslavia. I feel sorry for anyone who answered West Germany vs. USSR (1972) or West Germany vs. Czechoslovakia (1976), since those answers would also be technically correct as there is no "West Germany" anymore. Sloppy question by a sloppy network. []
And if we can still believe in tomorrow, yesterday will disappear soon enough - IQ, The Wake (1985)

I could be wrong but I thought the question was "Who were the last 2 countries to have met in the final of the tourney who no longer exist?"

But the USSR & Yugoslavia met in the final in 1960, the tournament's first edition. So it still technically wouldn't be the right answer.

USSR and Yugoslavia was the answers I sent in.

I ended up sleeping in too long and missed the FA Cup final along with Soccercentral.

Didn't miss much. Sportsnet made a complete hash of the coverage, not very impressive. Wheels fell off the Londoners efforts later in the 1st half and United cruised to the podium.

I think Howard touched the ball twice. And once was before kickoff.

Wise can still play a little. Little chippier than I remember, but it looks good on him.

I hate those trivia questions that require only "useless" knowledge. Someone who never watched a soccer game in their life would have had just as much chance in coming up with the wrong answer they were looking for.
