Every year Impact management makes statements about how serious they are taking the Voyageurs Cup but from their actions it seems to be largely public relations BS. This year players like Nesta and Di Viao were not only not on the pitch or bench but not even in the city of Toronto for the game against TFC. After the surprising underdog victory of 2008 and the great Champions League run that followed we have not even won a single game since then. And that time period includes humiliations like the 6-1 loss to TFC. And after a 10 day break with no games and an upcoming match against MLS bottom dwellers Chicago we really needed to rest players? Or were they concerned with looking good for the Impact's first NBC broadcast? A 2 goal deficit is pretty hard to claw back but hopefully the club gets the message and will put out our best players this coming Wednesday.

I think we should discuss the performance of Canadians in a single thread. As we all know, this is a competition that gives Canadians a lot of playing time, and for most of us, that is what it is all about.

It would be much easier to post everything concerning Canadians in the Voyageurs cup in one place. I am thinking of something akin to the "Canadians in MLS (2013 Season)" thread in the "MLS" section. It would help myself and others become familiar with players like Maxim Tissot, (or the majority of guys on FCE for that matter).

On one side of the semifinal stage, four-time defending champion Toronto FC will host Impact Montréal, the one other national winner in the Championship's short history (2008), in a repeat of last year’s Eastern semifinal. Leg one of this semifinal will be played at BMO Field on April 24 (kickoff at 4:30 p.m. PT on Sportsnet East, Ontario, West and Pacific). The two clubs will resume their semifinal in Montreal on May 1 (kickoff at 4:45 p.m. PT).

Vancouver Whitecaps FC will once again this year travel to FC Edmonton, the lone NASL club in this year’s Championship, for the other semifinal. The first leg of their semifinal will be held on April 24 at Commonwealth Stadium in Edmonton, AB with a 6:.45 p.m. PT kickoff (broadcast starting at 6:30 p.m. PT on Sportsnet East, Ontario, West and Pacific). The two clubs will meet again in Vancouver on May 1 (kickoff at 7:15 p.m. PT) in the second leg of their semifinal.



Whitecaps FC are curently ranked 6th in their conference with a record of 2-3-2 coming off a 2-0 LOSS to FC Dallas while FC Edmonton have yet to play a home game in the NASL season and are currently 0-1-2 with All results being road games the last one being a defeat of 2-0 to Minnesota United.

Toronto FC are currently ranked 7th in their conference with a record of 1-2-4 the latest being a 1-1 Draw against Houston at BMO Field. Their opponent Impact de Montreal is ranked 3rd the best result from ALL Canadian MLS team with a whooping 4-1-1 record.
