That's right. One in 13,983,816. That's thirteen million, nine hundred eighty three thousands, eight hundred and sixteen against. Those are the odds of winning the weekly Lotto 6/49 on any single ticket.
Pretty bloody outrageous, eh? Mind boggling really. In the big scheme of things it may just as well be a billion to one against already, that's how huge the odds are.
But I'd wager the mortgage that in my lifetime that my odds of seeing oh, lets say
The Loch Ness Monster
or Bigfoot
or even Halley's Comet again...
are about the same as seeing an indirect free kick awarded for time wasting by a goal keeper.
Unless of course the United States of America's women's soccer team is losing an Olympic semi-final match with 10 minutes remaining to play. In which case it's just your plain everyday ordinary event.
