I think I am not going to enjoy this world cup, because Spain will get knocked out early once again. I am being a fatalist, yes, and trying to use reverse jinx psychology, where absolute pessimism protects you from future pain and sets you up for surprise victory.

But actually I think the same could happen to both Spain and Brazil in this draw, either could be out in the first knock-out round, the latter if they face Spain, the former if they have a bad day against any of those possible rivals in Group G.

Just so you don't think I am a coward, my silly prediction, ignoring what I just said, screwing up the match-ups probably, and following Falcon's scheme:

Group A: Uruguay, France
Group B: Argentina, Nigeria
Group C: England, Algeria
Group D: Germany, Serbia
Group E: Netherlands, Cameroon
Group F: Italy, Paraguay
Group G: Brazil, Côte d'Ivoire
Group H: Spain, Chile

Round of 16
Uruguay-Nigeria Nigeria
France-Argentina Argentina
England-Serbia- England
Germany-Algeria- Germany
Cameroon-Paraguay Cameroon
Netherlands-Italy Netherlands
Brazil-Chile Brazil
Spain-Ivory Coast Spain

Quarter Finals
Cameroon-Brazil Brazil
Netherlands-Spain Spain
Nigeria-England England
Argentina-Germany Argentina

Semi Finals
Brazil-England Brazil
Spain-Argentina Spain

Final
Spain-Brazil Spain

I'm picking mighty Paquador vs the 3 Lions. Can't we wait a month or so when we see who is actually available for the teams?

LOL! Patience, patience. I know the days are flying by but a lot can change over the next month or three.

I'm not expecting any major surprises although, as with every World Cup, there are some A-/B+ teams which if they get on a roll could stand the tourney on it's head. (And I'm thinking of a CONCACAF side here, and it isn't the USA).

Best to wait and see. Stuart Holden was likely put out of the US World Cup squad by the Dutch on Wednesday.
