For those without access to GOLTV for whatever reason tomorrow, webcast PPV is your friend:

http://goltv.insinc.com/20071107/

It will be available as an archive afterwards as well.

Cheers,

Regs.

True white trash would have no idea how to creat a torrent. I fall into that category.

Martin Nash and the Whitecaps are outclassing Becks' Boys so far.

Oh, but the good news is Becks will be sub'd at half time so all the 12 year olds can get home in time for bed.

I won't be surprised if there is a big exodus when he leaves the game.

Are the Whitecaps really wearing their training kits for this game?

Cheeta

If their training kits are blue shirts and socks with white shorts, yes. (No sponsor or stripe on the shirt).

By the way did the 'Caps really pay a million bucks for that turf? If they did it's maybe not the wisest money the club has ever spent. Could see how it allows for some flexibility (i.e. being trays) but it doesn't seem to provide anything resembling a 1st class surface.

If "Whitecaps" isn't across the front of the kit then it's their practice kit. I keep hearing the radio guy saying the Caps were angry that LA only brought their white kits with them but what the hell?? Don't the Whitecaps have both of their kits available?

I have no idea what the Whitecaps paid for the turf. I had no idea what they were bringing in for the game. If it's as crappy as people are saying (I'm following the game thread on the LA section of Big Soccer) and they paid a million bucks for the turf, perhaps they were half-assed in installing it.

Great crowd, but mid-way through the 2nd half it's been a poor game. The Whitecaps look interested at least but not overly capable while the Galaxy just don't look interested. This is a poor advertisement for the North American game for such a large crowd. I hope at least has an exciting finish.

That's the regular BC Place turf that the Lions use.

They must be using something to make the pitch wider. The turf the Lions use barely fits a CFL pitch on it, then it goes to bare concrete.

Given that there is no need for massive CFL-sized endzones, it's likely that they took some turf from the ends and added them along the sides.

after some searching, the first news story is out. 0-0, now that's exciting. Whitecaps really should have won on that penalty chance.

I didn't get to watch the entire game, but I have to give some credit to Gol TV. They get tons of respect from me for picking up the game. Also, their production seemed pretty good. Much better than their Gold Cup games. Its good to see an improvement in their production values. I didn't watch enough to make a comment on the commentators. I'll have to critique them later.

This was the first "fully produced" game from GOLTV and it did look good. The only part they produced on the Gold Cup was pre-game, half-time, and post game, which looked pretty good. The feed they took from the game was awful at times, but that was the host broadcast feed that CONCACAF provided. They just happened to hire a few of the regulars at GOLTV USA to do the play-by-play....but like always...Mr. Warner goes cheap on production and pockets the rest!

Is GolTV associated with Warner and CONCACAF ?

No....It is CONCACAF's responsibility to provide a host broadcast for a major tournament like the Gold Cup. Whatever network buys the rights can either produce their own games or pick up the host feed from CONCACAF. GOLTV could probably not afford to produce their own matches so they picked up the feed, which was crap.

I enjoyed the experience of being back at BC Place to watch soccer ... I knew the game was going to be sub par so no expectations really but just hearing a crowd of 40 K cheering the white caps was magic ...just like the old days.
