I don't like the concept of teams being able to be set in only one city. You don't see that often and this rule should be tossed out. Of course I see the benefit through ticket sales and such but it is not fair that Portugal will be based strictly in Toronto. That is a significant advantage for them. And if Canada plays them in Toronto you can bet your bottom dollar that we are having an away match on home turf.

I want to see maybe regional locations. So instead of just Toronto we could have Montreal and OTT for Portugal. This would also apply to any other teams in their DIV. 2 DIVS for the east region and the other 2 for the west. Saves on time, costs and allows players to rest properly. Then you could have the EDM VIC and BURN side for other teams. I hope its done right.

Well, "based out of" means something like 2 games, as they usually move around for the third group game.

Montreal's commitee has said we'd see something like 12 of 24 teams within 8 games.

I'm under the impression that the CSA had applied to FIFA for a special exemption to allow Portugal to play all 3 games in Toronto. Does that mean Korea wil be drawn with them now because of their high numbers in TO?

Perhaps Japan will go to to west coast cities? I don't like it but "It's gonna be huge" cost a lot of money to think of in someone's advertising boardroom.

If you read the rules for the 2005 draw in Holland you'll see that some teams had that exception. "Team X will be base in Y city". I think Germany was one of them.

Here we go: http://www.fifa.com/LiveDraw/PDF/wyc_draw_procedures_05.pdf

Germany and Turkey had pre-assigned cities.
