I turned out this morning bright early to watch the old barn (the Winnipeg Arena, that is), go down in a cloud of dust. In true Winnipeg style, it didn't quite work out that way.

Ha! Man, can you get up early on a Sunday.

Is anyone surprised? Really should have seen it coming. That building could be as miserable a place as anywhere on earth at times so it's no wonder that she'd refuse to co-operate right to the bitter end. Good for her.

By the by, seen the old Swift slaughterhouse go down years and years ago, that was pretty dramatic. Missed the levelling of the Cold Storage building on Higgins but was out and about a little later and the cloud was still hanging over Elmwood.

Best had to have been when the Leoland Hotel(?) went up like a candle a couple of years ago. Whole of Point Douglas, Elmwood, East Elmwood and I'm sure parts of Old Saint Boniface were under a toxic cloud. It was awesome. You'd have thought an atom bomb had gone off.

Anyway. Believe it or not I'm going to miss that **** hole.
