View Full Version : Knee Ligaments
Almost a month ago i tore my MCL and pretty much as soon as i could i was back in the gym and running and doing anything i could so i never really rested it properly i guess you could say. And now im almost back in game shape except every time i take a shot with alot of power i feel pain/awkwardness so i dont wanna play till i think im 100%. I'm just wondering what you guys think? I dont know if i should just rest it for a couple of days or a week and do nothing..... or if i should just keep doing what im doing going to the gym and building up the muscles around the knee.
( By the way i have a knee brace i wear when i play )

well im not a doctor. I have gone through two ACL reconstruction surgery's. Go see your doctor and your PT and see what they say. quit what your doing though, the pain is a good indicator that something is not right.. .just my 2cents

I had MCL injuries on both knees. That feeling is one of the worst things, since you always feel like your leg is going to open laterally. Pain, as knibbyson said, is a good indicator that something's not totally right. I made the mistake you made many years ago, and under pressure to come back, I did that way too soon. Stop right now, go see your therapist, follow whatever program he has in store from you, and you will not be sorry you did. However old you may be, what lies ahead is not worth the damage you could cause now. I have retired from playing, and I feel the consequences of the pounding that my knees have taken. I assume you are younger than me(I am 36), take your time, strengthen the muscles around your knee(as you said), and come back when it feels right, not when someone thinks you should(i.e. coach). The awkward feeling is mostly psychological, that will go away....it is the pain that has to disappear before you continue playing.
