Canadian Women's U18 Team Draws USA 1:1
Canada's Under-18 women's team drew 1-1 with the United States at the adidas Cup in Houston, Texas, Monday.
Canada's Deanna Everrett scored in the 77th minute.
"This was a fantastic performance, but a disappointing result," said head coach Bob Birarda. "This was a fairly even game where we feel we outplayed and outchanced our opponent, and we are disappointed not to come away with a deserved victory. This group of players managed to play into penetrating space and sustain attacks while controlling the attacks' of one of the best female soccer country in the world. These types of performances say a lot about how far this program has come in the past 5 years. The challenge for these players now will be to find a way to grow from and repeat this performance over the next 3 games in this event and beyond. There is still a great deal for us to improve on, and we will be looking to be even better from here on out."
