I just caught this on the CBC's annoying Pan-Am roundup tonight.

I have a new hero. May I never forget the name Achraf Tadili.
For those of you who did not catch the replay, Tadili was eighth in a field of eight by around 300m in the 800m final in the Pan-Am games. He passed the 7th place runner around the 3-400 m mark. In another 200m he was in third. And he just walked past the rest of the competition to take the Pan-Am gold by a metre or two! A new Canadian record, and gold for Achraf Tadili in the 800m--Canada's first gold in the even in 40 years!
This guy has more balls than I've ever seen. I hope that, any time in my life, I can show that kind of grit and heart.
A truly inspiring Canadian, and as Canadian soccer fans I think we can all appreciate how great an achievement it is to go from underdog to champion. Good for you, Achraf.
Sorry about the OT post, but I hope every schoolchild in the country is shown the same story tomorrow, whatever we deem the topic to be.
Allez les Rouges,
