Hey kids,

Anyone ever read the magazine Ambassador? Well the Voyageurs Cup was entered there as one of two sports stories in the July edition.

For those who don't know them, Ambassador is "Canada's Premier Multicultural Magazine", published out of Mississauga. They have a load of lifestyle and cultural stories in a rather neat glossy package--and they weigh in at 64 pages which is impressive. Their website is www.ambassadormagazine.com.

Anyhow, they reprinted the season's inaugural VCup press release, including my contact info, and DJT's too. I'm not sure how they got hold of it but it's much appreciated all the same. It was printed with a longer story on the Lynx, which appeared to be dated around the Victoria Day weekend. They put Dave Nutt's contact info too, but the Lynx story seemed a lot longer than just a single press release.

Anyhow, I think it's a great thing for us to be included in a multi-cultural magazine. It's a nice surprise to get media attention of any kind, though.

So anyhow, pick up a copy of Ambassador some time, like all Canadian magazines they can definitely use the help (and magazine subsidies were just cut again btw). Ambassador is available in numerous GTA bookstores, and nationwide at Chapters and Indigo.

That's really cool, and a new milestone of sorts: our first appearance in a non-sports medium.

Interesting, this is what the magazine claims to be about:

"Ambassador Magazine exists to profitably gather and provide accurate information that will educate, enlighten and entertain ethnic communities worldwide. We are dedicated to the preservation, knowledge and understanding of the ethnic community through print media. The magazine aims to highlight and advocate the accomplishments and concerns of the ethnic community through examining history, the present and anticipating future milestones."

Their last three sports articles have all been about the Toronto Lynx. So is this an example of soccer being portrayed as an "ethnic sport"? (Just an observation.)

I'm going to pick up a copy when I get a chance. Thanks M@, glad you read so much.

[blush] Actually I should've mentioned, they comped me a copy with a very nice letter thanking me for my article... anyone know who sent it to them?

Again, though, the attention is much appreciated...
