Whitecaps beat the Sounders 2 nil before over 5000 at Swangard.Seattle carried most of the play in the game but were unable to beat Mike Franks in the Whitecaps net.Carlo Corazzin scored his first for the club near the 10 min mark after a scramble that left him alone with a wide open net.The Whitecaps had almost a full squad tonight with only Jeff Clarke(injury)and Niall Thompson(suspension)and Jeff Skinner(?)as regulars who were not dressed for the match. The Caps looked organised at the back and thwarted the Sounders attack time and time again.Whitecaps 2nd goal came on a counter attack with about 10 min left that saw Johnny Sulentic provide Oliver Heald with a great pass that he converted from just inside the 18 to Seattle keeper Preston Burpos low right side.It was the 2nd game in 2 nights for both teams. They played to a 1 all tie on Saturday night. The 4 points in 2 games brought the Whitecaps to within 2 points of Portland for the final playoff spot in th Pacific division. The Whitecaps next game is against Calgary on Thursday night.

I'm sorry I disagree that the Sounders carried most of the play, and this is coming from a person who has been bashing the Whitecaps play a lot recently. This must mean one of two things, you weren't paying attention, or you stayed home and listend to a biased Seattle internet broadcast. In fact shots were 12-11 in Seattles favour but shots on goal were 6-5 for Vancouver. Vancouver had 9 corners to only 3 for Seattle.

A nice little rant at the southsiders board (just so everybody still thinks I'm crazy: http://pub199.ezboard.com/fcanadiansoccersupportersfrm9.showMessage?topicID= 194.topic

Do you happen to have the ball possession stats as well?Thats what I was referring to when I said that Seattle carried the play. Also, the reason that Seattle didn't have more shots is that they were thwarted by the Caps defense as I stated.

Don't have those statistics. However I did watch the game sober for the first time in many games (all season?) and just to check I asked other southsiders who they thought carried the play, and the response wasn't the Sounders.
Oh well, we'll have our differing opinions.
