Final AGGET:

Montreal 2 Toronto 3

MON Eduardo Sebrango 34'
TOR Nikola Vignjevic (PK) 50'
MON Sita-Taty Matondo 72'
TOR Ali Ngon (PK) 90'
TOR Ali Ngon 102'

What a comeback for Toronto. Ali Ngon does it again... and again. The commentators expressed some doubt about the penalty calls. They felt that Montreal should have had this game well in hand.

An attendance record for Montreal: 8,237. (Previous record was 7,933 in 1998. Correction: Daniel pointed out that this was the old regular season record only. The overall record was 8,169 at the 1994 final.) People were still trying to get in 30 minutes into the game, and they had to move a bunch of people from one side of the stadium to the other to spread them all out --- some even had to be placed on the track.

Ngon's on fire. The only games in North America that Osieck attends are Lynx games. Why didn't he give him a shot??

The only match I think Holger has attended this year so far was the Toronto home opener against Montreal, in which Ali didn't actually look all that great, to be honest. It took him a few weeks of playing to get back his timing & rhythym and now he's back, better than ever. He needs to be called back into the national team program, at the very least for the Olympic team.

Great ... the Lynx won against Montreal! And Ngon bagged two. I bet that he will be off in Europe next year ...

CP gives us a headline!!!

This is probably our biggest exposure yet, in the sense that it will be seen not only by fans who already follow Canadian soccer closely but also by other soccer fans looking for any general soccer news (because the headline is listed amongst other top soccer stories, so surfers don't have to click on and read the whole article before seeing the reference to us).

Of course the article will be bumped as new ones are posted, but if it's not too late you will be able to see it amongst all the other top soccer stories on the following sites (and probably more):

Here are the corresponding links to the actual article, since eventually it won't be found at those listed above:

The next thing we need is for one of these to actually be printed in a paper!

Toronto rallies to defeat Montreal 3-2 to grab share of Voyageurs Cup lead

MONTREAL (CP) - Ali Ngon's penalty kick in the 90th minute tied the score and his overtime goal off a rebound gave the Toronto Lynx a 3-2 A-League soccer victory over the Montreal Impact in front of a franchise-record 8,237 fans at Claude Robillard Sports Complex on Wednesday night.

Despite trailing late in the match, the Lynx players never gave in and were rewarded with a penalty kick in the 90th minute when Ngon was fouled in the box. Ngon calmly converted the penalty, sending the game to overtime.

Toronto dealt the Impact their first home loss when David DiPlacido's shot was stopped by Impact goalkeeper Greg Sutton but the rebound rolled to Ngon, who slid the ball into the open net.

Toronto, 7-9-3 for 24 points, grabbed a share of the Voyageurs Cup lead by ending a three-game slide. It also improved their record to 3-1-0 in the Voyageurs Cup, tied for the lead with the Impact. Calgary and Vancouver round out the Voyageurs Cup field having failed to record a point.

The Impact took the lead on Eduardo Sebrango's goal in the 33rd minute and the Lynx were given a penalty in the 49th minute that was converted by midfielder Nikki Vignjevic.

Lynx goalkeeper Theo Zagar kept the game within reach with several great saves.

Sita-Taty Matondo put Montreal back in front in the 72nd minute and the Impact looked set to send the crowd home happy before Ngon's late-game heroics.

The three-goal performance was the best offensive output this season for Toronto, and Ngon's two goals gave him a team-best seven on the season.

The Lynx stage their annual Youth Day next Wednesday with a noon game against the Atlanta Silverbacks at Centennial Park Stadium.

Hi all,

This was one wild game and very entertaining. I was asked to choose the three stars of the game so in the 89th minute, I made what I thought were my final choices and off I go to give them to the PA announcer when...Ngon is tripped in the box. Ok, scrap that. In the end I kept two of my three original choices.

For the record: 1) Eduardo Sebrango 2) Ali Ngon 3) Theo Zagar

All the best

There is no doubt in my mind that Ali Ngon will be in Europe next year. I always believed in him. Too bad he got screwed in MLS. The poor guy never played a single game while wearing the uniform of the now defunct Miami Fusion. What a waste of time. Way to go Ali!!!! Keep smiling!!! By the way, my 5-year old nephew Sebastian who you met on the street says hello.

N'gon's late game <<heroics>> were diving in front of the goalmouth and getting a ''penalty kick'' for it.

Enjoy the victory while you can, we'll remember for next year!!!!

Sorry Impact Supporter, I don't agree with you. Ngon was tripped. Even the Montreal players and coach Lilley said that the PKs were justified. Lilley said that the defence did not play well. Give the Lynx credit for not giving up and fighting until the end.

I'd prefer he stay with the Lynx for a couple of seasons and help the team achieve some consistent success for once. Imagine the strike force Ngon and Budalic could have provided the Lynx this season had Budalic stayed.

I agree with Metro. Why do you want players to leave all the time Luis?

Well, when you live in Toronto and don't attend Lynx matches you really aren't losing anything by hoping that a player leaves the Lynx.

Why do I prefer Ali to leave for Europe soon??? Well that's simple. Ali will only excell to high calibre player if he takes his talent to Germany, along with DeGusman and Stalteri.
