Nottingham Forest defender Jim Brennan is to sign a three-year contract with Norwich City within the next few days.
The Canadian was travelling to Carrow Road today to discuss personal terms after rejecting Nottingham Forest's offer of a new deal. "It has been a very, very tough decision," said Brennan's agent Mark Curtis.
"He has enjoyed his time at Nottingham Forest, in particular the last two years.
"He has a lot of respect for Paul Hart and the rest of the Forest staff, the directors and the fans."
Brennan has returned to England to tie up the move to East Anglia before linking up with the Canadian squad to take part in the CONCACAF Gold Cup which starts on July 12 in America.
Curtis said Brennan felt it was the right time to move on after joining the Reds in 1999 from Bristol City.
"It's just the right move for him at this moment in time," he said.
"Forest tried very hard to keep him. He enjoyed very much playing for Paul Hart.
"I can't talk about the contract he was offered by Forest. That is confidential and it isn't something that I could, or would, talk about.
"We have let Nottingham Forest know and Norwich are going to announce it in the next couple of days.
"He has gone down today for personal talks but they are pretty much agreed.
"There's certainly no bad feeling with Forest. He got on well with the players and staff.
"He would like to thank Hart for all he has done."
Brennan, who made 47 appearances for the Reds last season in the league, cups and play-offs, will make a quick return to the City Ground as Forest's First Division match against Nigel Worthington's team will be televised live on Sky on Saturday, August 30 at 5.35pm.
The 26-year-old is the second of the four out-of-contract players to reject new terms after Riccardo Scimeca's decision to join Premiership Leicester.
Des Walker has agreed a one-year deal and Matthieu Louis-Jean, as revealed in the Evening Post last week, has indicated he is willing to sign a two-year contract.
In addition, Jack Lester and Jon Olav Hjelde were not offered new contracts at the end of the season.
