Norwich City boss Nigel Worthington has confirmed he is interested in signing out-of-contract Forest defender Jim Brennan.
But he has denied rumours that negotiations to take the Canadian international to Carrow Road are at an advanced stage. Brennan was a mainstay of the Forest defence which managed to secure a play-off place at the Canaries expense.
And former Notts County defender Worthington admits he is monitoring Brennan's situation carefully.
He said: "Jim Brennan is one of a number of players we have been looking at over the last few weeks but there is nothing further to add at this stage."
Last week Brennan's agent Mark Curtis confirmed that the player had not signed a new deal at the City Ground and was weighing up his options.
He said: "We're still talking to Forest but we have also spoken to a number of other clubs as well."
Meanwhile, Manchester City have admitted they are having problems unloading former Forest loanee Darren Huckerby.
Huckerby, who scored five goals in nine starts for the City Ground club after arriving on loan from Maine Road, is still under contract at City and Forest were unable to make a permanent move for the striker after failing to secure promotion to the Premiership.
Now City managing director Alistair Mackintosh has said Kevin Keegan needs to trim his squad but is finding it difficult to find clubs for a host of players, including Huckerby.
Mackintosh said: "Moving players out is one of our priorities. Anyone can look at our squad and say it is too big and you can identify some players who won't feature.
"Against that, it is a very difficult time. There is very little money around."
